Why do I need a will?

You don’t need to be wealthy to need a will. In fact, most people own more than they think—from digital accounts and family heirlooms to cars, savings, or even pets. Without a will, the court decides what happens to all of it—and more importantly, who will care for your children, pets, or dependent adults.

A will also protects unmarried partners, who don’t have automatic legal rights to your assets. And even if what you leave behind isn’t financially valuable, it likely holds sentimental meaning. That’s why estate planning isn’t just for millionaires—it’s for anyone who wants to make sure their wishes are honored and their loved ones are protected.
